Oct 28, 2008 If you like castles, you are in for a treat. Shobak Castle is a crusader castle built in 1115 by King Baldwin of Jerusalem and taken by siege in 1189 by Saladin. On the day I was there, there were no other visitors and it was an experience to tour the castle alone. The castle stands alone high up on an open landscape, which offers photographers uninterrupted exposures of the castle and its surroundings. Inside the castle are the ruins of two churches and beneath In the catacombs beneath the castle, I saw some interesting Christian and Islamic carvings. I found the castle to be well worth the visit and the admission fee of 1 JD. Good journeys! Related Links
