Getting there:
Hire a car with a driver from Amman (JOD 50-70). The public transport system in this part of Jordan is not great. Also, have your passport with you. There are road checks along the way, due to the proximity to Israel.

May 15, 2009 The Dead Sea , the lowest point on the surface of the earth; it’s 400 meters below the sea level. It’s also a Spa resort where you can find hotels and centers for natural skin treatment. It’s called Dead Sea because it’s so rich in salt and minerals that no fish can survive there. Swimming there is good adventure, you just have to go into the water and you find yourself floating. On the shore you should cover yourself with the mud which is very rich in minerals. After taking a shower you feel your body hot and itching. May 31, 2009 Fun thing to do, you just walk into the sea and as soon as your gravity center, or whatever it is called, is under water it's impossible to stand up and you'll start floating automatically. You can go to one of the 'spas' or you can go to a local beach, just make sure you rinse with clean water afterwards. And ladies; it kind of burns in not so fun places but that passes after a while. Oct 21, 2008 There is nothing more relaxing that watching the sun set over Mount Hebron, whilst laying on top of the sea. The down side is that the really good beaches are in the 5 star resorts, which will charge you to enter. There are free beaches when you travel southbound from Amman, along the coast. Oct 30, 2008 The Dead Sea was something I was interested in when I went to Jordan, but I wasn't overly excited about it. But I have to say that it was one of the neatest things...there's no way to describe floating like that! It's really a fun thing to experience. The mud is also good for your skin, so get dirty!! :) Nov 7, 2008 just make it happen, skip the hotels and spas and do it like a local--park where you can and rinse off afterwards in the hot springs that drain into the sea.
