This is a tremendous castle well worth a day's exploration. Built in 1142 during a time of peace between the Muslims and Christians, and not long after becoming a "crusader's" castle. Saladin took the castle by force in 1183. The castle itself is in very good condition and restorations continue. Much of the castle is open to visitors. The views from the castle are magnificent and it is easy to understand why the castle was built where it stands. Good journeys!

What a view! And what a castle! It's in very good shape considering it's age and the precipitous hill it's built on top of. The outside is impressive, but it's the maze of rooms inside that really impressed me the most.

Great castle with a lot of small rooms to discover, I missed a bit of explanation. All the information we had we got from our guide books. Still well worth a trip.
