Mount Baekdu (also known as Changbai Mountain in China and Paektu-san in Korea) is a volcanic mountain situated on the border between China and North Korea.  It is North Korea's highest mountain, and thought to be the ancestral origins of the first Korean kingdoms.  The mountain is considered sacred, and is one of the three "spirited" mountains.

North Korean historians also claim that Kim Il Jung was born in a log cabin within this mountain.

This mountain is a popular tourist destination for visitors of North Korea, though to climb the mountain, travellers usually climb on the Chinese side.
