Si Pha Don or better known as Four thousand islands are loceted at the most southern point of Laos near the border to Cambodia and Thailand at the Mekong delta. It is a very peaceful and idyllic area consisting out of lots and lots of bigger or smaller islands in the Mekong delta. The most known islands are Don Det, Don Khon, Don Khong, Don Som and some more...

Amazing. I spent about a week in this area and really love the idyllic scenery. You can swim or do tubing in the Mekong. Or rent a bike to the waterfall, some islands are connected with bridges (you have to pay a small fee for passing though). Definitely don't miss a river trip to observe the rare Irrawaddy freshwater river dolphins. They look very characteristic with their long mouth. I did as well a sunset cruise and really liked the warm water of the Mekong... So nice to enjoy and travel from here over the border to Cambodia.
