The Mekong River trip from Huay Xai to Luang Prabang is a popular (some say essential) part of a Laos/Southeast Asia trip. However the journey takes 2 days, the slow boats are uncomfortable, and the fast boats are dangerous. Fast boat, which rockets along at 50mph .
The fast boat does not offer comfort either ... but, for excitement, it ranks with the best. It takes ~6 hours.

It was 1 of the best experisence in my life. Everybody says it's dangerous, but traveling as fast as like this on the water it was an adrealin increaser. :o) I was just sitting there all of the day, and hearing music and singing aloud..... because nobody heard me because of the noise of the engine! :o)

I had nice such a nice trip there, like people but I don´t like that I have to pay for such a high cost for toilet when the bus stop on the way from Vang vieng ...kind of ripped off!
