Situated among Hmong and Khamu villages amongst green forests, the 30 metre tall Tad Kuang Xi is one of the more picturesque waterfalls in the region with multi-tiered cascades.  It is situated against a limestone cliff backdrop.

amazing...a must-visit place when you go to Laos. The place is not very big but you will enjoy the combination between the color of the lake and the green scenery. During rainy day, be careful, it might be slippery. make sure you have Teva-like sandals. Make sure you bargain your tuk tuk if you decide to go from the town center.
If you go alone -- like myself -- don't forget your tripod. The scenery is too beautiful to be missed out!

I visited the Falls while staying at the nearby Lao Spirit Resort. The waterfall has so many levels and you can spend hours here sitting on a rock gazing out at the beautiful countryside or climbing the rocks in the falls. I highly recommend wearing water shoes so you get some traction on the rocks and don't cut your feet! Swimwear is also helpful.

For a truly amazing day, pack a picnic lunch and spend the afternoon here!

One of the nicest waterfalls I've ever seen. There is the big one - very beautiful to watch. And lots of smaller ones with natural pools where you can take a bath. Very refreshing. You can change your clothes over there they have cabins. Don't miss it when you visist Luang Prabang. It is close to town just book a taxi for a day. It is very cheap and the driver waits for the day until you come back from the falls.

most people go here on a half day minibus tour and it's nothing that special. i would recommend hiring bicycles and cycling there - sure, its 27km each way and a fair bit of uphill where you have to push your bike, but the sense of achievement once you arrive is incredible and the swim in the waterfall is more refreshing. Makes for a much more memorable trip than getting a bus is you're up to it!

This was the most magical place in Laos for me. Less populated by tourists and more a retreat for the locals the falls are hidden away after a short canoe ride and a stroll through tall trees. We would have missed this if we hadn't been short on time. We didn't have enough time to go to the more popular and well known falls Kouang Si Waterfall - and what a blessing that was!
