One of the most popular and easily accessible parks, Phou Khao Khouay NBCA includes a combination of forests, grasslands, as well as the Nam Leuk reservoir.  A number of activities are popular at the park, including elephant watching, trekking, kayaking, bird watching, and visiting traditional villages.

Access from Vientiane from Route 10 to Ban Napheng at kilometre 54 on the western portion.

Access from Ban Na and Ban Hatkai from Route 13 southwards to the Eastern areas.
