The Occupation Museum has a number of excellent exhibits detailing the time when Latvia was under Nazi and then Soviet occupation (during 1940 and 1991).  The depictions of the Soviet occupation and the various atrocities committed against the Latvian people are quite vivid.  There are also reconstructed gulag barracks and exhibits on Siberian labor camps.


Entry is free, donations are accepted.

Went there in January and this museum was a welcome relief from the cold! It's a really interesting museum that helps you understand the history of Latvia from WW2. Exhibits in English.

The Soviet-built museum building is a somber reminder of dark, windowless times. Inside, there are a number of impressive, albeit grave exhibits showing Latvia's history.

Good for people who loves history. But for me, this place was too boring. Best at the museum night at 14th, 15th of May. Then there is free entrance.
