It is a very nice part of Riga. The predominant architectural style is Jugendstil, the German equivalent of Art Nouveau. Old Riga is full of small squares and lots to see. The lift to the top of St. Peter’s church is worth a go for the beautiful sights. There are many nice shops, bars, cafes and restaurants all over the old town area. In winter there is a traditional Christmas market located at the Dom Square. There you can buy snacks, drinks and traditional Latvian handcrafts. There again will be a chance to send Christmas postcards to the loved ones right from the Dom’s Square Christmas mail.

It is the best place to visit in summer. People are partying to the fullest and city itself is very very beautiful. If about food, you would have to visit a cheap place to eat "Pelmeni" It is a latvian fast food, very cheap and very tasty :) You can find places with this "restaurant of self-service" in Kalku street and on the first floor of mall Gallery Centrs.

Very, very beautiful old city! People named it "Small Paris". Old Riga is the historical and geographical centre of Riga, located on the right bank of the Daugava River. Old Riga comprises a fairly small interior fortification system area (built during XIII-XVIII centuries), where unique middle-aged architectural monuments are concentrated.

Riga is a place with two faces. Go to the inner (old) city, which is really beautiful to walk around, but you'll also see plenty of expensive cars and rich people walking in suits. Go a few blocks away and you see the poor people of Latvia. It's really a big contrast!

Excelent place! Must be here atleast one time in your life. Good architecture, many places where to streess out - lots of good restaurants, clubs and many more.
