Dec 7, 2010 The palace Rundale is one of the major tourist destinations in Latvia. It was constructed in the 1730s by Bartolomeo Rastrelli as a summer residence of Ernst Johann von Biron, the duke of Courland. Rundale palace is one of Latvias greatest baroque and rococo monument of art. There are more than 100 rooms. However, not all are open for visitors. It is planned to restore all rooms till 2014. If you are travelling in summer, visit The Rose Garden. It spans 9,000 square metres and represents the largest rose collection in Latvia, 12,000 plants. This palace is located 79km from Riga (capital of Latvia). It is easy to reach by car or by bus in about 1h15min. Guided tours are possible in foreign languages. Jan 27, 2009 Rundale Palace is a really outstanding architectural landmark of Latvia created as a summer residence for Ernst Johann Biron, the Duke of Courland Nov 19, 2009 A place to visit. But i would advice to see it in summer, or in early autumn, when it's still not too cold and there are many beautiful flowers in a gorgeous garden :) Related Links
