Khan = an inn or hotel where caravans used to rest. Frenj = foreigners.
It was built by Fakhreddine II; it was a busy commercial center and it also housed the French Consulate. Today it has guarded the same arcades, courtyard and fountain and it serves as Saida’s Cultural Center .
