Madagascar's Fourth National Park, Ranomafana National Park is filled with an abundance of wildlife, including several species of lemurs.  On a guided night walk, you might be able to catch sight of the elusive Golden Bamboo Lemur.   At 41,500 hecactres in size, there is everything from small streams to steep mountains plateaus and waterfalls to hotsprings and rainforests.  In fact, large areas of the park are still considered primary forests.

The main tribal group in the area is known as the Tanala.

Ranomafana was a magical place. Day hikes have you going through dense, lush rainforest while chasing lemurs around. The size of some of the plants and sounds of the lemurs running through the trees is impossible to forget. But the biggest highlight here is the night hikes. Many parks in Madagascar are not accesible for night hikes, so this is special. There are so many nocturnal species, it is a different world at night. The tiny mouse lemurs and the elusive civet cats are two things you may spot at night, not to mention some massive, colourful moths. Don't skip this park if you head to Madagascar.
