Mount Kinabalu is one of those views that stays with you forever. There are two main trails: Timpohon and Mesilau. I've climbed both and I'd have to say the Mesilau trail has alot nicer views on the way up. It's also the more insteresting of the two - in terms of variation of the walking track and you tend to see more wildlife as there are very few people walking on it. The downside is that the Mesilau is a 2km longer trail and is only recommended for people that are fit. The timpohon trail is good too, you can often see lots of interesting pitcher plants, the downside of Timpohon route is that it can get quite crowded. The two trails meet just before the rest stop for the night and there is only one path to the summit.

I start by telling you its the hardest thing ive every done! my advise is do a lot of training before you go. getting to (larata) is hard but a nice climb, but it is when you have to be up at 2 am to climb the summit is when all the fun begins, lol. i found the 2 step sit down method worked for me as you find it hard to breath, it is all so good to have a partner so you can encourage each other up. when you get to the summit it makes it all worth while but be careful it get quite crowded up there and you can't stay too long because you start to freeze up there. oh and on the way down.....the pain is unbealivable...it took me 7 hours to get up and 7 hour to come down...in total....also you are in pain for the next 4 days after...

I like the feeling of enjoying the sun rise on top of a peak. For mount kinabalu, it's a "walk" up the mountain with a half way stop mid way. It is worth the early rise and shine, the tougher way up thereafter, and the perseverance to keep up so that you will reach the top early enough to enjoy the metamorphosis of a sun rise above the clouds. Hope for a clear sky for the best effect but then you have to contend with a hotter descend with the blazing heat.

It is on the UNESCO world heritage list. Approximately 13,000 ft above see level. Absoluetly magnificient sight. The peak is normally surrounded in fluffy clouds .... you would be lucky to see the peak if it is a clear day. Spectacular golden sunsets and rich in flora and fauna like never seen before. This place is worth a visit.
