Langkawi Island, which is officially known as Langkawi, the Jewel of Kedah (locally called Langkawi Permata Kedah) is an archipelago consists of 99 small islands with 5 extra islands which would appear in the low tide. Langkawi Island itself is a district of Kedah state located in Andaman Sea and it is separated approximately 30 km off the mainland of Malaysia . Langkawi has a very warm and humid temperatures ranging from 25° Celsius to 35° Celsius which is very suitable for tourists from all over the world, not too cold, not too hot. If you love doing natural based activities like scuba-diving, snorkeling, angling, swimming, and fishing; Langkawi Island will be the best choice for you to spend your holiday.

In Langkawi Island , there are three geoparks which have been given the status of World Geoparks by UNESCO; they are: Kilim Kart Geoforest Park , Machincang Cambrian Geopark, and Dayang Bunting Marble Geoforest Park . Besides the incredibly amazing geoparks, Langkawi Island also offers you with numerous choices of the best beaches in Malaysia like Kok Bay, Cenang Bay, Burau Bay, and last but not least Datai Bay.
Kok Bay is locally known as Pantai Kok. It is a peaceful beach with beautiful limestone hills as the background.
Cenang Bay is locally known as Pantai Cenang. This bay has the unending stretches of white sand and contoured by many tall coconuts trees. This would be a great photographic object if you like to take pictures of natural landscapes.
Burau Bay which is locally known as Pantai Burau is the most favorite destination for migratory birds. If you enjoy looking at group of birds hanging around rocky outcrops, this might also be your favorite place too.

There are several ways. If you are going to take a flight, there is an airport at Langkawi, so you can reach there directly from KLIA at Kuala Lumpur. The other way is through ferry from take-off point at Kuala Kedah and Kuala Perlis.
