This place really is a shopping centre/mall. You will find all kinds of shops boutiques, a supermarket, restaurants, cafes, McDonalds (on the ground floor), department store, etc, etc. You will find all kinds of foods, from muffins, hamburgers, hotdogs to Middle Eastern, Malay, Chinese even donuts available. Remember the Malaysian Ringgit is $7 to £1. Yes you will be 7times richer. As a smoker I found buying cigarettes in the supermarket there is cheaper and I tend to buy it by the cartons. A carton costed me approximately £10. Hallelujah!!!! It is also a hang out for youngsters and as Ampang has a large number of Western Expatriates it is their local shopping centre. Malaysia being a Muslim country you will not easily find pork served and all foods are halal (butchered prepared the Muslim way). It really should not make any difference to anyone who is not a Muslim anyway. Everyone in KL knows Ampang Point so getting there should be pretty easy - especially by taxi. However since the Malaysian had put up the price of petrol by 40% early this year taxis refuse to go by the meter. Be prepared when a taxi driver throws a fare at you to agree on before you get in. Frankly it is should be very cheap when you convert it to pound sterling/US dollar or Euros. Also be aware of shoplifters - it is rife in Malaysia although the people there are generally nice and soft spoken.
