Batu Caves is a limestone hill, which has a series of caves and cave temples, located in Gombak district, 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) north of Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia . It takes its name from the Sungai Batu or Batu River, which flows past the hill. Batu Caves is also the name of the nearby village.
The cave is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India , dedicated to Lord Murugan . It is the focal point of Hindu festival of Thaipusam in Malaysia which attracts over 1.5 million pilgrims yearly, making it one of the largest annual gatherings anywhere in the world .

To walk up on the 127 chairs and glance the cave. Huge and amazing!
Batu Caves is one of Malaysia's most famous tourist destinations especially for the colourful Thaipusam festival. This attracts up to 800,000 devotees and spectators; the highlight is seeing devotees in a trance carry kavadi , a metal frame attached to the body.
Standing at 42.7 meter (140.09 ft) high, the world's tallest statue of Murugan , a Hindu deity, is located outside Batu Caves

This is a hindu temple near KL malayisa. there are 127 steps to climb to the cave entrance, which has a huge temple inside, and a great view of the city. the dark caves are well worth the entrance fee!! watch out for the vicious attack monkeys!!!

We had to get a bus from the city out of town and the climb up to the caves is a good wee hike!! and there are crazy monkeys on the way up. The caves are impressive though and there are explanations on what signifance they have.

was fairly interesting. however, next to the caves, across a turtle pond is a hindu temple in a cave. the challenge is to get a picture of yourself suckling on the 'tiger cow' (u cant miss it!)
