Kwajalein Atoll

About Kwajalein Atoll
Marshall Islands
Kwajalein Atoll is primarily known as a major US missile defense and test center, and as a result much of the atoll is off limits.  Kwajalein is also the world’s largest atoll in terms of area, as the islands are spread out around a massive lagoon.  This lagoon also serves as a target point for missile tests from the US mainland.  The lagoon also has excellent wreck diving as home to the wrecks of over 30 Japanese ships from World War II, as well as the wreck of the German heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen, famous as the escort to the battleship Bismarck during the Battle of the Denmark Strait.
