The wine cellars is just a short busride away from Chisinau. We went by bus no. 2 from Chisinau. It was about 40 minuets, bu I guess it depends on how the traffic is.

We had an appointmet at 13:00 (ordred the same morning). I guess reservetion beforehand is recommended, especially if you want an english guide. There are several options for tour with or without winetasting and lunch. We chose the tour and lunch package. The tour in the wine cellars lasted for about one to one and a half hour (and about the same with the tasting). We tried three different premium wines (red, white and sparkeling) from the Prestige collection. Salty snack and cheese were also served.

During the tour you will see parts of the huge underground facility and some of the wine collections. We also visited the sparkling wine cellar where the turn the bottles by hand.

If you're really after the experience of tradition and underground splendour, go visit Milestii Mici wine cellars, it's a similar place, but, unlike Cricova, you get more galleries of bottled wine, a nice guided tour and a better impression of how wine is made. Don't go to the gift shop, it's expensive and you can get the same wine in the city centre, the official store is 2 streets down the main boulevard, if you go down Alecsandri street. Also Cricova wines are much better, so if you only want to taste the best, go to Cricova. If you're after dessert wines, try Cahor, if you've got spare cash, get the most expensive Trandafirul Moldovei, which is made of afterfrost grapes and is a special.

A big underground "town" with streets, that have names, little train, that takes you through cellars, wine collections, luxurious rooms for wine-tasting. Very impressive. Wine and Placindas (Moldavian national pies with different fillings) taste really good.
