beautiful place although spoiled by tourism already. still if you get off the main track you can find some nice, almost untouched places and people.
bike is a must in Bagan! you can rent it practically everywhere and it gives complerte flexibility - plus you can visit places no one normally would take you to.
my favorite area was south from Nyaung U - more quite, with quite nice temples. it's best to actually spend nights not in the middle of Nyaung U but more to the east - it's closer to temples area and give great opportunity to catch couple sunsets and sunrises. i've chosen winner guesthouse, on the road to old bagan - quite nice, friendly, clean place, with aircondition and breakfast.

The pagodas of Bagan were just amazing. Imagine over two thousand pagodas all in one area, stretching out as far ass the eye could see. It was breathtaking yet at the same time, instilled a sense of calm and serenity. Maybe it was because there were many more pagodas than tourists so you could literally choose your own pagoda and go inside to meditate undisturbed.

This is a great place. It has so many temples that it's wierd. Get a guide, there's no way you can go to all ofh them so you need someone to tell you the more interesing ones. There's no other place like this.

The Temples of Bagan are really amazing. Ranks up there with the other great temple complexes of the world. Also, one major advantage is that they are not as crowded as Angkor Wat for example.

The best way to do it is cycling around the temples. At night it's quite nice also as they put light on them!
