The Namib desert, which is part of the Namib-Naukluft National Park is the fourth largest conservation area in the world, and one of the oldest deserts.  Occupying an area 50,000 square kilometres in length, the desert stretches 1,600 km along the Atlantic ocean coast.

The giant red and grey sand dunes are some of the highest in the world, and are oft-captured in photographs.  Climbing these sand dunes can be an unforgettable experience, though actually scaling a 300 metre tall dune is a bigger feat than you think.

Possible activities include climbing the sand dunes, watching sun rise or sunset, camping out and looking at the stars, or catching the desert wildlife that eke out a living.
