Peace on earth! After the madness that is Kathmandu, this sanctuary is the place to go to find peace and spirituality. I have visited it many times and my favourite panorama is from Kopan monastery. The best time to visit is late afternoon when local tibetan people come to do the kora around the stupa. It is just so colourful. Relax in one of the roof top restaurants and watch the sun set - the gold of the stupa just glows. Any description just doesn't do it justice.

One of the most impressive stupa of Nepal and I am certain that it is also the biggest stupa I have ever met. The stupa has 5 terraces where you can walk on and is surrounded with lots of shops and restaurants with roof terraces. From here you get an amazing view of the stupa.

Quintessentially Kathmandu. This temple is one of the unofficial symbols of the city and its image can be seen all sorts of places. The image will stay with you long after you leave.

La plus grande Stupa du monde. Une semaine en face de cet imposant monument. Une activité frénétique et un endroit pourtant presque hors du temps. Une grande expérience.

This is where the Tibetan refugee village is and it is full of monasteries and Tibetans chanting mantras. I did not want to leave, it was so peaceful and interesting!
