Situated within Nepal in the Himalayas, Annapurna is the 10th highest mountain in the world, and one of the 14 mountains above 8,000 metres.  Annapurna translates to mean Goddess of the Harvests or The Provider.  This 55-km massif stands at a maximum height of 8,091 metres (26,538 feet).  Annapurna features multiple peaks, with the highest peaks named from I to IV.  It is considered one of the world's most dangerous climbs, with a fatality rate of 40%.  For a safer view of the mountain, consider some of the many trekking routes in the surrounding area that circle the mountain, or takes trekkers past Base Camp.

One word AMAZING!
But many more needed to express what is unbelievable about this mountain range, district and the people who live there. I would highly recommend doing the Ghorepani trek to the inner range and also the Annapurna circuit to see the beauty of this region.

Pokhara is around only 800m above sea level and from this town you can see the Annapurnas and the Machapuchare. In less than 30km, the altitude rise from 800m to 8000m.
