Oct 22, 2008 Dedicated to one of the world’s most troubled artists, this museum is a great one to visit if you are looking for some mainstream culture in Amsterdam . One of Van Gogh’s best known Sunflowers is on display here and there are many self portraits and other paintings to ponder. Be prepared for a queue but it’s worth it when you get through! Oct 19, 2008 I expected a lot more from this museum.. even though i love Van Gogh's painting, and his interesting life.. i felt that something was missing... i must admit being that close to some of his painting was breathtaking, but i got out without the feeling thay you've seen something that important and i hated that. The museum is always crowded, so u have to queu, i didn't for long, like 10 minutes because of the time, but then people started coming and the place was so full of people and rude ones... there is nothing worse than people standing in front of you when you'r standing at a painting. Learning about his life is good i learnt a lot, but this is one of the few museums i dont want to go back, unfortunately. May 30, 2009 This big museum on one of Holland's best know artists is a great museum for people who like Van Gogh. It is really well organised with clear explanations in both Dutch an English, for other languages you can rent an audio guide. It realy gave me a clear picture of his life. It also showed that his artistic period was very short and that in those few years he tried many different styles. At one point I wished he had made up his mind. The fact that there is such a long queue and so many people all trying to take a good look at the pictures makes the visit a bit tiresome. They had some great temporary exhibitions when I was there. Apr 23, 2010 Housing the largest collection of Van Gogh paintings in the world, this is the place to go if you’re an art fan! The gallery is light and airy and well laid out, and contains not just van Gogh paintings, but also those created by other artists from the 19 th century. It’s amazing to see the differences in van Gogh’s style over time, and even more amazing to see some of his most recognized pieces up close. Starry Night was on display the last time I visited, and it was more beautiful to see in person than I could have imagined! Dec 14, 2009 It's simply amazing...when I went to see it, I was really tired and only wanted to see a few works, but when I got there...I just couldn't take my eyess off the beautiful paintings, I must have spent over three hours there. I don't really know why I like Van Gogh so much, and I don't think I even did before visiting this museum, but seeing his real work really changed the way I look at art...for that I am truly grateful. Van Gogh Museum is definitely a place worth seeing!
