Broerekerk
About Broerekerk
The Fransican monastry to which this church belonged to was built in the 13th century. The monastry itself was destroyed in 1580. The church stayed but but then in 1980 it burned down leaving just the walls standing. Years later, in 2006, the town council decided to keep the ruin as it is putting a glass roof over it protecting it from the elements. Nowadays it can be visited and is still used for weddings and cultural events.

Aug 22, 2009 A gem, normally ruins aren't really tolerated in the hard working north of the Netherlands but I'm really glad they decided to keep this church. the glass roof adds something special, not everybody thinks it is a good combination but I think it really works. Old church modern ruin.
