Chapel
In 1472 this was the site where the Cell sisters of St. Ursula from Amsterdam established a small cloister. A chapel was added at a later date. The sisters vacated the cloister moving to the area of the Poth in the mid 1500-s when the Augustine monks who had been living in Soest were forced to leave and sought protection in Amersfoort. The monks named the cloister Marienhof, the name of their former residence. It closed in 1610 when the last monk died. In 1611 the orphanage moved from the Begijnhof of the Sint-Aegtenconvent to the Marienhof. By the 1900s the number of orphans declined drastically and the building has had various other functions since.

Lovely place and a great restaurant inside by now. Surrounded by beautiful canal is very picturesque in autumn.
