Piet Mondriaan, one of the founders of De Stijl (an abstract art movement) was born in 1872 in this former schoolhouse, which his father ran. Mondriaan lived in Paris before moving to NYC in 1940 where he died in 1944.
It is now a museum exhibiting copies of Mondriaan's work as well as the works of some of his important contemporaries.
