More an upscale department store for people who want to buy the little bit more expensive brands, than anything else... You have it in all the big cities of Holland and the concept used to be "the department store for high middle class", but it has lost that 'prestige'.. Not haute couture fashion, but not Zara and HM either. Think about Benetton, Marco Polo, Tommy Hilfiger, Mexx, Matinique, etcetera.

De Bijenkorf is considered an upscale department store. It carries brands that are a little above the average price, but then again it's high quality you're buying. I enjoy shopping here, and even if you're not planning on spending money, there are plenty of interesting items to look at. There's also a restaurant on the top floor that serves decent food, in case you get hungry.
