Aug 3, 2011 The National Museum of Antiquities and Archeology; has collections on Egypt (all kind of objects and mummies), Greece (mostly grave stones and vases), Etruscans and the Middle East. There are some objects related to the entire Roman Empire, but the best part is the section devoted to Dutch archeology, which shows some spectacular prehistorical, Roman and medieval artifacts. The special exhibitions can vary in quality, but the permanent exhibition is much underestimated; the objects are shown in an informative and professional way (both for children and adults). The entrance to the main hall (where a whole Egyptian temple can be seen) is free. For the rest of the museum there is an entrance fee. Aug 22, 2010 Good antiquity museum near the center of Leiden. It has some good and interesting permanent exhibits, as Egypt, Near East, Greek, Roman Empire, including the Dutch occupation and Dutch prehistory. The temporary exhibits are worth the visit as well. 'Famous' for its Egyptian temple and the treetrunk canoe from Hardinxveld. The museum is not too big, so you can easily visit it within an hour.
