We lived in this town for a year and it was a fantastic place. Don't let people scare you away saying it smells. There are a few thermal areas that stink, but the town generally doesn't.  There are tons of hotsprings around and where else can you be mountain-biking in the woods and come across boiling mud?

Rotatrura was amazing went to a place where you experienced Mauri meals and dances... sooo much fun :D
