Not the easiest climb but not the hardest either. You'll see unspoiled nature everywhere. Climb to the top, but make sure you also take the side trail to the lava caves. You can ascend into them and they're breathtaking! The tractor tour around the island is worth it if you don't have an entire day to walk all the way around it.

A short ferry ride takes you to Rangitoto Island, a volcano in the harbour. Walk, or take the land train to the summit for lovely city views, explore the lava caves, and generally experience the wilderness, minutes away from New Zealands busiest CBD.

Great Day trip from Auckland, and even more fun if you hire a sea kayak from fergskayaks on Tamaki Drive and paddle across the harbor. Just watch out for the ships
