Everybody will tell you that they died about three times during the crossing. Well most people do. When your fit you'll be doing it in about 6-7 hours if not it will take you about 8-9 hours. The devil's staircase is a bitch, but you'll get there!!! The haven't called it Mount Doom in Lord of the Rings without a reason!?! It is well worth the trip and after finishing it you'll be so proud of yourself. I would do it again if I had the change!

If you can spare the time and are there in the right season (not too much snow) the Tongariro crossing is amazing. The winds can be really high and the temps vary a lot throughout the day so be sure to pack plenty of layers!

Nice place for a family ski or people who loved ski... Must go... Don't forget to wear your winter coat and gloves and others... You may be freezing in here....
