If ever you want to see the best Museum in NZ it's best to plan ahead and go as early as possible...to get the best of the entire experience I suggest to arrange a guide if going with a group of people or if going on your own then it would be an idea to hire a portable media player which has all the information on it about exhibits and what not in you own comfort and time...to comfortably get around Te Papa...allow yourself two hours at least or 3-4 hours at most...Enjoy the experience

The biggest and the most high tech museum I ever been...totally amazing...its a five level museum and each floor delivers awesome history of New Zealand.
You will love their little show rooms that shows how the Maori first came to NZ and what things they owned back then and the way they get to the island.
It's a must see when you're in Wellington, NZ...and its free for everyone!

There is so many exhibits in this museum that I have been probably over 10 times and I still enjoy it. They do have visiting exhibitions and they have exhibits that change every so often so there is always something new. It is a very interactive museum telling the history of New Zealand as well has show casing its art.

Every time you visit Te Papa there is something new to discover. It is always interesting, like the emigrants who made New Zealand the way it is today. There is a lot to learn about the Maori and to admire the beautiful woodcraft. One day is not enough to see everything Te Papa has to offer.
