Absolutely georgous place!! Loved it... Cathedral itself is stunning!!! Climbed the bel tower to look over Cathedral Square and looks amazing! Things a little bit expensive but not too bad... people all lovely and helpful all though occasionally not! Extremely similar to Australia! But great place heaps to see and do! loved it!

All in all, it is not a bad place, but I just used it as gateway to the plains of Canterbury and I also payed a visit to nice, yet small, coast village of Akaroa. Architecture is ok, in terms of what the country offers as ancient buildings. However, I'd not spent too much time there and move straight to the wild.

Great place! Transport is great - if using public transport there is the free shuttle bus that runs constantly through the main centre of town - extremely helpful!! Climbing Cathedral tower gives beautiful views!!
