This was really good! I was quite pleasantly surprised! You don't need a whole lot of time. You check in at the bottom Gondola station, and ride to the top. There's a gift shop, cafeteria and viewing deck, plus a ride - worth looking at, but not particularly exciting! Gorgeous panoramic views from the top!

Good restaurant at the top with fantastic views over Banks Peninsula and down into Lyttleton. A great place for that special occasion.
The gondola ride up and down affords views of Christchurch.
You want to go on a fine clear day to make the most of the views, the sun in summer can generate difficulties in getting all around panoramas.

Its just awesome cause you can see the whole city of christchurch and on a nice day its just a very relaxing trip up the Port Hills with a great view
