Put your fear in a bag for half a day or a full day 'cause this glacier is fun. My dear friend and me chose the half day hike with 2 hours (approx) ice-time. Put on the special boots, overtrouser and you are ready for the journey. Don't leave the crampons otherwise you won't make it on the ice :D The guide, and other participants aswell help you all the way up onto the ice (especially when you freeze to a halt after looking down a crevice, I know I shouldn't have done that but I was too curious). as soon as you conquered different crevices, icy stairs... you get a breathtaking view (if the weather is sporty enough to be realy sunny and clear) The guide also shares info about the glacier itself and ice in general. don't forget your lunch, but most of all have loads of fun it's a very good experience. A must-have-done-activity even

I went here on a guided hike, and it was amazing. It was a steep climb at first, but the area was beautiful. The environment is always changing as the glacier progresses (About a 1m a day). What I liked was that it wasn't entirely safe - you could fall, or stick your leg down a gap or icy puddle if you weren't careful. Also, while we were up there a Kea flew in and kindly posed for its picture. Beautiful area.

never been on a glacier before, was an awesome experience (though very cold :P). was on a guided tour, 150$ for 8hours, was worth the money! crawling through thight crevasses, punching the ice and making frosty pix - just one thing: have a look at the weather forecast: you don't wanna step through the rain (what - unfortunately - will be the case almost every day) ;)
