oslo is actually a very small town with not that much to actually see: you'll just want to wander around the town, and enjoy it's large sidewalks, many gardens and perhaps get a boat ride to the fjords.
but there's something you don't wanna miss, and that is this huge park to which gustav vigeland dedicated almost his entire life, actually giving it to stone - the process is so perfect that it isn't hard to believe that gustav still breathes through each and every one of his marvellous pieces.
and if you have the time, go and see the building is younger brother emanuel designed to be, first a gallery, and then his final resting place. it's hidden in the middle of the woods, and at first it may come as a little creepy, but at the end it's a beautiful, quiet place that will definitely leave an impression in each and everyone of its visitors.

A trip to Oslo is not complete without visiting the beautiful intricate Vigeland park. Named after Gustav Vigeland who modelled 212 human sculptures in full size including a huge tower of people laying on top of each other. The sculptures are beautiful and have a rather kinky feel to them -;) The park also boosts acres of land and huge trees and if you visit in early autumn, you will be dazzled by an array of beautiful warm red and brown colours. Note the angry baby on your visit. This sculpture has been stolen from the park many times, hence you will find many tourists snapping away trying to get a pic of this rather realistic looking child.

i visited oslo on a 10 day trip through scandinavia and compared to copenhagen and stockholm, oslo did not have that many sights to see: you walk down karl johans gate from the train station towards royal palace and you have pretty much seen everything... vigeland's sculpture park, however, which is somewhat outside the city, was fun: took a lot pictures of and with the scultptures.. you should also go and see the ski jump holmen kollen: the trip itself - going up the mountain by metro - and the view from up there is great!

A wonderful park in downtown Oslo, with sculptures by the norwegian artist gustav vigeland. The park is huge and really beautiful with lots of activities in the summer time; concerts, shows and other happenings. People of Oslo love to go there on the weekends and chill out with a book, take a picknick, play frisby or volleyball but you can do whatever tickles your fancy;o)

One of the artistic highlights of Norway is the Sculpture Park in Oslo. The park contains 192 sculptures with more than 600 figures, all modeled in full size by Gustav Vigeland without the assistance of pupils or other artists. Vigeland also designed the architectural setting and the layout of the grounds. Especially the monolith of life ... great
