The Vaagen in Stavanger actually means the Guest Harbour with lovely wharf houses painted in every colour of the rainbow (now almost every one of them works as a restaurant or pub). Great place to sit out and watch people and boats drifting by. Also the local fishmarket is here with the freshest catch every day!
Just a quick stroll away you will find the magnificent Gothic cathedral with beautiful carved altars and serene interior, on the shore of Lake Breiavatnet. Further down the harbour promenade you can reach the unique Petrol Museum.
