There are the modern and old parts of the souq. The entrance to the old souq is through an old wooden door before entering the main area of the small modern souq. The old souq is only open during the day, closes around 5pm

Spending time at dusk in the small maze of shops in the main part of Bahla souq is an experience, especially if you are on your own. The locals are friendly and helpful. The old souq is very atmospheric and lots of small shops/stalls. Best part for me were the stalls selling herbs and spices. The aroma is wonderful.
