Extensively restored fort at Jabrin with a surrounding date palm plantation. The fort sets itself apart from Oman's other restored forts with its exquisitely restored decorated ceilings.

From Nizwa either follow the 21 (through Bahla, turning for sign to Jabrin once you've passed through the town) or take the new motorway (check your map as not all have it on) which comes out very close to Jabrin (just turn left at the 'end').

Beautifully restored fort. Exquisite decorated ceilings. Take your time and explore every nook and cranny of the fort in your own time. The view from the roof (once you find your way) is amazing, especially over Jabrin village. There are also everyday artefacts within many of the rooms tyring to give glimpse of what life may have been like when the fort was in use. When I went in March 2008 they were still within the restoration process. Well worth visiting if you can take the time and trouble to get out there.
