Ngardmau Waterfall is the tallest in Micronesia at around 60 feet high and wide.   The water comes from Mt. Ngerchelchuus, which is the highest point in Palau at 700 feet in elevation.  The waterfall is quite beautiful and is in an outstanding forest setting.   The gorgeous cascade shimmers in the sunlight.

To get to the waterfall from the parking lot requires a somewhat challenging 40 minute hike up and down hills and across a river.  It is likely that you won’t see many people at the waterfall due to its remoteness, so appropriate precautions should be taken.

Ngardmau Waterfall is located towards the northern end of Babeldaob, about 37 km from Koror.  The road can be in very poor shape depending on recent weather conditions, so it pays to check before heading out.

It is refreshing to sit by the waterfall and enjoy a chat with a friend. Unfortunately, you don't get the tea and coffee at Starbucks' style. Still worth going. If you are game to get wet, my travel companions then got themselves wet under the massaging streams of water falling on them. I kept myself dry nonetheless. The trek to the place was scenic with many insect eating plants along the way but it was an up and down walk on rail track, dirt road and streams. Be prepared mentally.
