prepare carefully for this hike...we started a couple of miles before the park station and the entire trek was about 18 miles, taking about 10 hours. pack plenty of water as there is none to be found along the way. also, high-protein snacks are a necessity. you might also take a quick-snap cold pack if you have any issues with your knees as ours tended to swell a bit on the descent.
