Jul 6, 2010 One of the oldest in the city, this neighborhood has streets whose patterns follow those of the Incas—narrow and steep much like a medieval city. The old houses have been built upon Inca stone walls. In and between the zig-zagging streets are picturesque little squares and viewpoints of the city. This area is also known as the Barrio de los Artesanos (Artisan Quarter), and it is dotted with workshops and stores of some of the most famous Cusqueño artists such as Hilario Mendívil, Edilberto Merida and Antonio Olave. Mar 7, 2009 It's a place much smaller and more quiet than Plaza de Armas. One needs to climb a bit to get there. It is not the church that makes this spot special, it is the atmosphere. My wife and I liked just to sit on a bench and watch singing, dancing or making their handcrafts bohemians, or talk to locals improving our Spanish. We have touched there Einstein's theory of relativity because time slowed for sure ;)
