Cusco's Plaza de Armas is lined with colonial buildings including a cathedral and the churches of Jesus Maria, El Tiumfo and La Compania. These buildings were built right on top of the original Inca plaza that was twice the size it is today. There is a nice fountain in the center and some benches to sit down on and appreciate the neighborhood. Thieves congregate in and around the plaza, so travelers are advised to remain alter and aware of their surroundings at all times.

hi...cusco is the most mind blowing place, because of all its history, the way the spanish changed the city,so that the inca people where less likely to join up in large numbers. They were so out numbered they would have be unable to control them the way they did......which changed the future of the inca people forever. i would go back in a heart beat...

This is one of Peru's top attractions. At night this place doesn't sleep, and is photogenic. Go to the Cathedral and look for the painting of the Last Supper. The "lamb"that they are eating is a Guinea Pig. See also my Blog:

Visited the Plaza on our return from Sacsayhuaman.
I dare to say that this Plaza de Armas is more beautiful than the one in Lima. Bigger with more nice fountains and buildings surrounding it. And for sure, more easy to access...

Cusco is about the cutest city ever! I think I could live there even. It's so full of the Peruvian culture and the food experiences there were out of this world! Highly recommend it - but watch out for altitude sickness when you arrive.

I really enjoyed this spot, especially at night with the way they light up the buildings all around. Keep all your belongs really close though, and keep track of who's hanging around you.
