Huaynu Picchu is the peak behind the Machu Picchu citadel. It is a fun climb, up a very steep path (those with a fear of heights shouldn't attempt this climb). The trail is well-kept despite its daunting appearance, and Huayna Picchu can be climbed by any agile traveler. The view of Machu Picchu from the top can be somewhat disappointing, but it is great to see the Urubamba river wind it's way around the mountain down below.

Wayna Picchu is the famous mountain that you find on almost every Machu Picchu Picture. As a a visitor, you can walk up there everyday at 7 and 10 a.m. But you have to be quick, they only let 200 people in each time. It's a very special, sacred place and the view over the ruins is fantastic. The Inka stairs might kick your ass, but hey, it s totally worth it.

It can be hard because of the altitude, and if you don't like irregular steps... but when you're up there and you see the Macchu Picchu surrouded by the mountains, it's just amazing!
Careful, if you want to do it you have to wake uo early to be there first... only 400 people can climb it: 200 at 7h00 and the 200 other at 10h

Yes it is not hard to see this mountain if you look at pictures from Machu picchu. I went there in the year 2007 and ofcource i went to the top of Wayna picchu, the walk was a bit difficult but so worth it, at the top the view was amazing, and it was so peaceful. So if you go there i recommend that you go up there:)

It is better if you stay at the sanctuary lodge roght at Machu Pichu´s gate, It is expensive but you can have the place for yourself for 2 more hours, after all the buses go down to Aguascalientes, there will be no more than 15 peopple there, also, the dinner is great.

After an hour and a half of difficult climbing, we stood in awe. Amazing view of Machu Picchu from the opposite side you know from pictures.
Worths the effort. After all, you'll probably never have the chance to do it again..
