This Inca fortress is located up on the mountain ridge north of Pisac town in the Sacred valley. the ruins are reachable by bus from town via 10km of paved road, or by a 5km footpath. It is also possible to hire a taxi to drive up to the ruins for roughly 3 USD. Reaching the ruins by foot takes about 2 hours and visitors having taken this route recommend it highly.

Mar 14, 2009 Pisac/Pisaq is very large set of ruins and its sheer size makes it very impressive. There are many examples here of where the land had once been terraced to support different types of crops. I was travelling with 3 other people who stopped and spent a good part of the day here on the way from Cusco/Cuzco to Ollantaytambo. Jan 28, 2011 The ruins at Pisac are stunning and differentiated from nearby Macchu Picchu as they were a more central part of Inca civilisation, rather than a detached "secret" city. This shows itself in the ruins' connection to the valleys surrounding, where several thousand Incas lived.
