Raqchi
About Raqchi
Raqchi can be argued as a more important site in the Incan Empire than Machu Picchu, as it was the center of power, religion and food storage. Its location was more central to the expanses of the Incan Empire, both in terms of North-South and East-West. As a form of tax, crops were brought to Raqchi for storage. Archeological evidence shows that fish from the ocean and inland jungle plants have been found in the storehouses, further demonstrating its central position within the empire. Many, many species of potatoes have also been found. Today it is a growing site of interest on the Peruvian tourist circuit.

Dec 26, 2008 The ruins of Raqchi have been pillaged over time, so what remains is certainly not on the same scale of impressiveness as, say, Machu Picchu. However, imagining how it must have been during the times of Incan rule, one can easily see its prominance within the Empire... and that sure is impressive! Related Links
