The 180km long and 20km wide Cordillera Blanca, or ‘White Range’ is so called because of its numerous perennially ice-capped peaks and glaciers. It is the world’s highest tropical mountain range and has the greatest number of summits over 6000m outside the Himalayas, including Peru’s highest peak, Mount Huascaran (6768m).
The experience of the Cordillera Blanca is one of dramatic mountain panoramas, with countless breathtaking views of towering glaciered white peaks, including the stunning Mount Alpamayo (5947m), Chopicalqui (6354m) and Huandoy (6395m). Add to these wonders pristine glacial lakes in an astonishing variety of colour and size, and deep green valleys rich with exotic tropical plants, and you have one of the most magnificent parts of South America.

This is undoubtedly the most stunning mountain range in Peru and also probably in the whole of South America! There are varied ways to enjoy the stunning scenery: trekking, mountaineering, mountain biking, horse riding, sightseeing tours, etc. There are activities suited to all types of visitors, the possibilities are truly endless. The perennially snow-caped peaks and jewelled glacial lakes are truly spectacular, and the region is very accessible making it possible to see stunning scenery even on a simple sightseeing tour. For those seeking adventures, there is truly no better place to be.

One of the best places I've ever been to!!! You can spend there as many days as you need, just going further and further! You can choose many routes and then just follow them with your arierro or without. You can see changing climate zones, glaciers, rare flowers and a lot of great nature! Highly recommend that!

The most wonderful place that I have ever visited, it has beautiful mountains. The best place to explore, so everything is cheap with excellent service. I advice Huaraz from PERU, specially to climbing mountains and adventure sports as mountain bike, rafting, kayak, etc

IMHO the best and most beautiful place in Peru. Who like mountains will love Cordillera Blanca. And it's not so much "touristic" as Machu Picchu which I appreciated, too. Huaraz is a good place to explore Cordillera Blanca.

For hikers a must to go. Take your time to get used to the altitude. Don't forget an extra battery for your camera, enough water and enjoy the view.
