 This museum displays the frozen mummy remains of "Juanita, the ice princess", an Inca women that was sacrificed on the summit of Ampato at least 500 years ago.  Visiting the museum starts off with an video and continues on with a guided tour (unguided visits are not permitted and the tours are done with great respect for the mummies).  Artifacts found at the burial site are also on display.

This museum is located in the old town center of Arequipa, just off of the Plaza de Armas, well within walking distance of the other attractions in the area.

A great museum if you want to see how the incas lived and also the clothes and weapons they used. The main attraction is Juanita who was an inca women frozen in time in the mountains and discovered a few years ago. She is kept in a freezer of sorts. You have to do a tour and hope they have an english speaking guide available
