About Toro Muerto Petroglyphs
This archaeological site is made up of hundreds of carved boulders spread across a a 2 square-kilometer are of desert. While the origins of these boulder carvings are uncertain, many believe they were made by the Wari people in around 800 AD.

These petroglyphs are located in high desert about a 1.5 hour walk from the small town of Corire. The bus ride from Arequipa to Corire is about 3 hours and costs rought 2 USD. Buses from Corire back to Arequipa usually run every hour on the half-hour. It is also possible to arrange single-day tours from Arequipa.
